The Frigidaire FAA065P7A Window Air Conditioner

A Analysis

The Energy Star Rated Frigidaire FAA065P7A is a compact window air conditioner capable of cooling a space of roughly 200 square feet. This unit is a little smaller than a comparable GE unit, both in capacity and dimension. This translates to a lighter weight that is easily installed in a window using the included quick-mount kit. Nevertheless, this compact unit gives great bang for the buck with many well thought-out features and a very low price point.

The Frigidaire FAA065P7A is electronically controlled with an automatic thermostat featuring a digital readout. The 'soft' startups won' trip circuits in your home and there are also sleep and energy saving modes for further flexibility.

The filter in the Frigidaire FAA065P7A ionizes the air and as explained here, users should be sure to vacuum or mop the floor of the room in which the unit is installed to achieve optimal air quality. This unit also has a dirty filter indicator light to help you ensure it is outputting the best possible performance. Potenital buyers should note this unit lacks a vent to let in outside air.

We were able to find this unit for a mere $140 at the time of this posting, making it roughly $60 cheaper than a the comparable Energy Star rated GE unit. Still, the shortcomings of the Frigidaire FAA065P7A are worth considering before making a purchase. Some users reported problems with the proper draining of condensate. This problem was exacerbated by the fan agitating the water in the drainage pan, causing a sloshing noise. A few users found this unit to be somewhat louder than the comparable GE unit in this respect as well during peak times of cooling operation. We also did not like the auger-style louvers which were not particularly effective at redirecting the air left or right.

Nevertheless, these critiques aren't enough to prevent this unit from being one of the most popular sold today, thanks to its great performance, feature set, a superlative warranty and a near-unbeatably low price.
