The LG GL6000ER Window Air Conditioner

Quiet, Handsome, Efficient, but Different

The LG GL6000ER is a radically different looking air conditioner by traditional standards. This 6,000 BTU low profile unit will be able to cool a space of around 200 square feet.

The first thing people will notice about the LG GL6000ER is that in its unique design the directional louvers for the air ventilation are located on the top of the unit, instead of the front face. We did not find issue with this placement and were able to capably redirect air as desired. The integrated handles on the side of the unit are a welcome addition and make for easy and simple installation.

The LG GL6000ER has a dry mode which will essentially convert the unit into a dehumidifier as well as an energy saver mode. In this mode, the fan will cycle on and off every three minutes to determine if the room requires more cooling. While this isn’t as jarring as units that cycle on and off the compressor and fan together as an energy saver mode, it does seem to happen a bit more frequently than the other units, and in this sense has the potential become a little annoying. Nevertheless, this unit was one of the quieter we have tested.

Finally, the LG GL6000ER comes with one of the most respectable warranties in the industry. At the time of posting, we were able to find this unit for $219 shipped. Although this unit is a bit pricier that others in this BTU range, with the good looks, quiet operation, high efficiency and the piece of mind in ownership the warranty provides, we would be remiss not to recommend this.
